When was jenga invented4/27/2023 ![]() If you want to learn a little more about the summarized version of the history Checkers mentioned above, read on. There are various ancient games that have a similar concept, and so the history of the game is not quite precise. That being said, the history of Checkers is somewhat vague in that no one truly knows its exact origins. Who officially created the first version of Checkers is unknown, and even though the oldest Checkers artifact found dates back to 3000 BC, was it perhaps based on a game that has even older origins? There are many unanswered questions when it comes to the history of Checkers. In 2007, the game was “ solved” by a team of researchers from the University of Alberta (in Canada) led by Jonathan Schaeffer.Īs you can see, there is not too much depth to the history of Checkers. ![]() Arthur Samuel then created a computerized Checkers program in 1952, which helped turn Checkers into the global phenomenon it is today. Then, in 1756 an English mathematician created official rules for the game, and in 1840 was the start of the very first World Championships. After years of being played the Egyptian way, in 1100 AD, a Frenchman adapted it to be played on a Chessboard with 12 pieces per player. While the oldest known Checkers artifact unearthed in Iraq dates back to 3000 BC, the earliest known version of the game comes from a game called Alquerque, which was played in ancient Egypt in 1400 BC. But where does this game of Checkers come from? How much do you really know about one of the world’s most favorite and oldest board games? ![]() Over the many years that Checkers has been around, it has proven its worth by becoming a firm favorite for millions of board game enthusiasts.

Parsec raspberry pi 44/25/2023 ![]() ![]() On the client you can use a number of different controllers. It also has some super handy features as well, like great controller support. It’s a client-host application that focuses on low latency video streaming. (Originally GeForce Now allowed you to play anything from your steam account, but I guess the game publishers took issue with that.) Finding Parsec Each one of them had the same problem, a limited selection of games, and more importantly, not the one game I wanted to play. I looked into all of the big alternative platforms out there: XBox’s XCloud, now just a feature of Ultimate plan in XBox Game Pass, Amazon Luna, NVidia GeForce Now. It makes you ask yourself, do I really want to invest a bunch of money into hardware and licenses to play games for a system that could become unsuable at any moment? But more importantly, the game I wanted to play, Fallout 4, wasn’t available for Stadia (to be fair though, it did just have it’s 5th birthday). Then there’s the Google graveyard, the growing list of products of which Google has gotten bored, and killed with little or no notice. From what I understand, you also have to pay for the games too. Then you have to pay a monthly fee to play Stadia. Games also have to set up to play on Stadia, so there’s also the limited library. Of course, we all know now that if you wanted to play on a TV, you really had to invest in some new hardware on Stadia as well, even if it was just their fancy controller and Chromecast. More exciting to me was the prospect of being able to play all of these games, without having to purchase a bunch of new hardware, and be able to pay something more closely to what I actually use. The idea of being able to stream games from a much more powerful system into my house was exciting. Having worked with the cloud since 2014, I was quite familiar with the prospect of what the cloud could do. Last fall when Google announced Stadia, I was super psyched by it. ![]() At 2 hours a day, this would take at least 200 days, and that’s for a fairly basic system. This means that to justify $1200, I’d have to play at least 400 hours. For entertainment, I can happily spend $1/hour, but for something I’d really enjoy, like a game from my favorite series, I can happily spend $3/hour. For a long time, I’ve had a rule of thumb. I started looking but what I quickly found was that for a decent system, I’d easily be looking at $1200 and up. My first thought was that it was time to get a gaming machine. Even if I could manage to get it to play, I couldn’t imagine that it would play well. With it’s integrated video, there was no way that it would be able to keep up. The most recent computer in my house is a mid 2014 13” MacBook Pro. The requirements say that it requires 8 GB of RAM and a 2 GB video card. None of my computers was powerful enough. I wanted it, I really did, but it had one large blocker for me. But Fallout is probably my second closest with 5 games.įallout 4 had been out for a while, and was on sale on Steam. It definitely has the largest number of games I’ve played in a single series (I think I’m up to 7). Zelda was one of the earliest series I really fell in love with. Sure, I could have tried the Trial of the Sword quest, but it never really interested me. Once I completed the Champions Ballad expansion, there wasn’t really anything left for me to do. At least, until I completed the expansion. Even on days where I felt I was struggling to make accomplishments at work, I could play for an hour or so, and make progress towards a quest. Once my kids were asleep, I’d pull out the Nintendo Switch, and play for an hour, maybe two, before going to bed. That night, I went home and picked up the expansion pack for Breath of the Wild. It made me reflect on what I used to do for fun. He told me about how he was getting joy outside of work by picking up the guitar. One day I was talking with a colleague, and told him about my difficulty. I was finding less joy in my work, and with all of my hobbies gone, this resulted in me being quite down. In the fall, I was facing a big challenge. But as my children were born, with the sporadic sleeping patterns of a newborn, baby, then toddler, playing games, like many of my hobbies, just kind of fell off. Playing Gertrude’s Secrets on my family’s IBM XT is one of my earliest memories. I have loved video games as far back as I remember. Instagrid blurry4/25/2023 Update: Converting the PNG you posted to a max quality JPG and posting it to my Instagram profile does yield a softness on my regular iMac screen, and it does the same with my test logo. Perhaps you could post a link to download the 640px file itself? It does the same to my sample logo, though, likely due to high compression.Īs my reputation doesn't allow me to add comments, I can only post answers and I don't know if this even qualifies but I will view it on my regular iMac screen to see how it looks and edit this post with the results. When viewed at 100% on its own, though, it still looks a bit soft and muddled but not as much as the image you posted. Your logo is downscaled by 50% but displays with twice the resolution on my Retina Display so it looks great. There reason I say that is because when I view your Instagram page on my iMac with Retina Display, your logo looks as sharp and crisp as the Instagram logo itself. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure if what you're seeing is what I'm seeing, and if the image in your post is accurately reflecting what others will see either. The Apollo pepper heat is comparable to the intensity of the Carolina Reaper, Pepper X, and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. ![]() It’s interesting that many super hot peppers all have similar shapes and knobby blistered appearances. Please let me know if you have run across such info I’d love to hear about it! Photo of Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers. This is just my best guess since I haven’t come across any photos or descriptions of the pepper or spoken to anyone with first-hand knowledge. Based on the Last Dab Apollo hot sauces color I’d expect the pepper to be an orangish-red color when mature. The exterior is perhaps a little glossy like most super-hot chili peppers. The texture is probably blistered and knobby like the Carolina Reaper. One could imagine the pepper would look like a mix between the Carolina Reaper and Pepper X, the two peppers crossbred to make it. No photos of the Apollo peppers have been released to the public. The reason is that he has built an incredibly successful brand with the Carolina Reaper and making some of his even hotter peppers available to the public would cannibalize his Carolina Reaper sales. I don’t expect Ed Currie to release Apollo pepper seeds anytime soon, if ever. You cannot buy Apollo pepper seeds anywhere – trust me, I’ve looked! If you want to try Apollo peppers, the only way you can is by buying the Last Dab Apollo Hot Sauce which you can purchase on Amazon and at certain hot sauce retailers. The burning sensation in my mouth lasted for about 30 minutes and over two hours in my stomach… this pepper is no joke. I’d say I have a pretty good tolerance to hot peppers, but after consuming some of the hot sauce, my eyes immediately started to water, my stomach burned, and I felt like I was on the verge of severe heartburn and stomach cramps. I tried a dime-sized amount of the Last Dab Apollo hot sauce made with the Apollo pepper, and it was scorching! The Apollo pepper’s Scoville heat rating has never been officially disclosed, but that hasn’t stopped people from trying to guess! The Apollo pepper is estimated to range between 2.5 to over 3.2 million Scoville Heat Units.įrom my personal experience, I’d say that 2.5 million to 3.2 million Scoville units is a reasonable approximation. Where do Apollo Peppers Fall on the Scoville Scale? Ed Currie made the Apollo pepper by crossbreeding two of his other pepper creations, the Carolina Reaper and Pepper X.įun fact: Ed Currie says he creates over 100 crossbred pepper hybrids each year with the hopes of finding two stable varieties in the process. The Apollo pepper comes from Fort Mill, South Carolina, on Ed Currie’s pepper farm. He started growing pepper at home in the 1980s but got serious about growing and producing them for sale when he founded the Puckerbutt Pepper Company in 2003. Others claim that Pepper X is the hottest at about 3.18 million Scoville units.
